Organisatie
Disarming Design from Palestine (DDfP) is a Brussels-based independent design label working at the intersection of design, education, and cultural exchange. We foster thought-provoking designs from Palestine, developing and distributing useful objects that carry poetic as well as political meanings. Often rooted in experiences of everyday life in occupied Palestine, these objects function as cultural artefacts that invite reflection and dialogue, serving as tangible entry points into complex social, historical, and political realities.
We work directly with Palestinian producers, designers, and partner organisations; the products are shipped to our studio in Brussels, where packaging, distribution, and sales are coordinated by a small Belgium-based team. Alongside product development, Disarming Design brings together designers, artists, researchers, educators, and cultural institutions in a range of public and educational formats. Through exhibitions, publications, talks, and workshops, design is approached not as a neutral aesthetic practice, but as a form of storytelling, knowledge production, and cultural positioning.
Disarming Design was established in 2012, and has been registered in Belgium as a non-profit association (vzw) since 2019. We are an official member of the Belgian Fair Trade Federation, and adheres to the principles of the World Fair Trade Organisation.
