Every year 8 billion kg of plastics flow into rivers worldwide. Plastics do not decompose and stay around forever, causing harm to people, animals and the environment.
Our vision is bold and global: a world in which rivers are free of plastics. We want to share our work with the world through our online media channels. Does that sound like something you want to contribute to? Read on! We are looking for a full-time social media & community manager. Someone that knows the ins and outs of Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, while also having a knack for creating human interaction and engagement. You’ll join an ambitious team based in Antwerp but through your work connect with our international community.
River Cleanup started in 2017 with a 10-minute cleanup and was founded in Antwerp in 2019 as a nonprofit organization. We have mobilized over 144.000 people in 57 countries along 161 rivers. To date, we have permanently removed 1.5 million kg of waste from the environment. Our approach (Ripple Model) consists of three elements: clean, educate and transform. We aim to increase our impact and scale in the coming years by transitioning from start-up to scale-up.
Functieomschrijving
- Grow and manage online and offline international River Cleanup communities.
- Manage the River Cleanup social media, platforms, and chat groups and interact with the community to increase positive engagement.
- Be the social media point of contact for our international volunteers
- Assist in organizing online and offline events
- Write, review, edit, and update content for our website, blogs, marketing materials, and other platforms.
- Assist the creative team with the design of promotional materials.
- Use social media to engage users, respond to questions or complaints, and to promote organisation initiatives.
Profiel
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position
- Socially inclined, not afraid to interact yourself
- Must be able to work independently
- University degree relating to Marketing is a plus
- Must speak Dutch and have a strong grasp of English
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign is a plus
- A high degree of flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
