Casting for The Bookspine Witch , an immersive multimedia game experience for schools and museums. The storyline of a cyberwitch seeking to control the world through stories will motivate the children to use their own story craft and media knowledge as a weapon against her, building their critical media literacy.
The immersive experience will blend digital interactive narratives, Augmented Reality, live-streamed performance and AI.
From Oct 2025 -Mar 2026 it will pilot in schools in Antwerp and at a secured spot at the JEF game festival (which engages an audience of 20,000).
Role description:
You will play two roles for this production: Jinx, the rebel leader, and the cyber witch.
Role:
Jinx is the leader of the Neon Rebels, who have set up camp beyond the city walls in Neon Forest, from where they make daring raids into the city to try to combat the Cyber Witch who is trying to take control of the city.
Setting:
Cybercity 1: A futuristic city, but with a slightly rundown, degraded urban feel. It is a world of flying cars, high-speed internet, huge data centers, and widespread artificial intelligence. The city is surrounded by Lumen Forest, a vast jungle that is encroaching into and interweaving with the city and its technology.
Genre:
Cyberpunk, solarpunk, science fiction - think Blade Runner mixed with the Matrix with a dark fairytale feel.
Shooting schedule (dates to be confirmed - October 2025 - March 2026:
2 x 1hr30min rehearsals online.
1 x 5hr video shoot in central Antwerp
14 x 1hr livestreamed performances to school classrooms / festival workshops from your home
Required skills:
- Engaging, friendly tone and expression for child audience of 8-13 year olds
- Ability to improvise around a fixed script and respond dynamically to children's participation
- Previous experience working theatrically with children in participatory workshops (a plus)
- Must speak both English and Dutch fluently
Logistical requirements:
- must have a stable internet connection at home via ethernet cable
- will need a small 2m3 performance space at home for the livestreamed performances, which will be performed from sitting in front of your webcam and interacting with 4 children at a time
- you will mount a simple set background with materials we send that can be stored in a 1m3 box at your home

Pay:
Fixed rate fee or €500 inc. VAT for approx 25 hours total of work @ €20 an hour.
Good for growing CVs in the performing arts / immersive media / game design / publishing / education / museums. The pilot will lead to further funding rounds, award entries, and opportunities in the near future. The project will provide the successful contact with a reference and connections.
